My Gardening Journey Part 1
I havenโt gardened in quite some time. Like for real, I havenโt gardened since I was seven years old. But I recently read about some great benefits about gardening as a mental health exercise.
Right now, I am gaining a new appreciation for this art. It takes a lot of dedication, perseverance, patience and discipline. Also, it has been therapeutic for me. Gardening has helped me get outside, get some sun and unwind. My mind can be at peace. And I can just breathe.
It is just me, the plants, the soil and my favorite playlist. In my garden, I have planted two French marigolds, one Lobelia, one Cada lily and two English lavender. It has been interesting to research on how to take care of each one and what they represent. French marigolds represent creativity by blooming in a variety of red, yellow and orange shades. The marigolds help remind me not to shy away from my own creativity and keep showing up for myself. The Cada Lily blooms a bright yellow to represent gratitude. It reminds me to be thankful for each day. English Lavender blooms in beautiful shades of purple represents serenity and tranquility. The Lavender reminds me to slow down and be present in each moment.
And they all smell amazing.
So put on your favorite hat ๐ฉ๐พโ๐พ, donโt forget your sunscreen and give gardening unwind a try if you havenโt already.
