Writing a letter to your week

Have you ever had a week that went on FOREVER? And you just can’t wait for the weekend. Or had a week that sped by like the Millenium Falcon in hyperdrive? (yes, I had to put in a Star Wars reference 😂) And you’re like “What?! It’s May! Already!” Sometimes I wish I could just write a letter to my week. So I did.

Dear Week,

Monday started out strong, but did not stick the landing. Tuesday has been fine, but I could use some more sun. The overcast right now is not helping my mood. On the bright side, I really looked forward to making my 4 pm tea to find a pause in the day. Last but not least, we need to find a way to work some exercise and get moving on Wednesday and Friday because I’m exhausted.

P.S. If we can afford a vacation that would be lovely!

Sincerely,

I’m tired

This letter helped me to check in to see how I am doing just like in a diary or journal. It can be short and sweet or run on for however long you would like it to be. You can write it on a post-it, google doc, notes app or a piece of paper. It is up to you. Writing can give you a reflection of how you are feeling. You can check in and say “taking a walk could help clear my mind, I could give my phone a rest for a couple hours, I could give my friend a call or I need to slow down and take some things off the list today”. What you do need for the day or for rest of the week?

But sometimes you don’t have the words to describe your week. That is where music comes in. You can write out the song or songs in your heart that week. Then, listen to the song or songs you choose to describe your feelings at that moment in time. It gives you the chance to have some stillness and peace from the world around you.

What letter could you write to your week? Or what songs are coming to mind?

I hope you have a delightful rest of the week ahead! And for all my Star Wars people, May the Fourth be with you!
